Barbara's Babies Dog Obedience School

About Us

At Barbara's Babies, we consider the whole dog.

It is our goal to help you get the most out of your relationship with your pet. In our journey together, we consider all aspects of the situation, we go beyond just obedience training and include everyone in the process.

Most behavior problems stem from something beyond obedience, our goal is to help you address the issues and support better behavior, using not just obedience but deeper understanding and handling skills, to help you and your dog become better together.

Barbara Pruitt- Owner and Head Training Director

I have been involved with dogs for over 30 years; it began even before I can remember, having had dogs as well as a variety of other animals as part of my family for years.  Training dogs was introduced to me as a teen and from the very start I was hooked. I have been fascinated and passionate about dogs ever since.

My experience and training has been an ongoing process since my early teens. I have taken numerous courses and seminars; trained many varied breeds and ages of dogs and have done a lot of personal educating through reading many, many books and doing extensive research, as well as having attended the Tom Rose School for Professional Dog Trainers. I have several certificates and degrees in the animal care and training fields.

Barbara is currently an AKC CGC Evaluator, Endorsed member of NADOI #1088 and Certified Animal Care Specialist.

Maryellen Townsend - Trainer/kennel manager

Maryellen has assisted us in many aspects in the past, she has assisted in track laying, distraction work and CGC testing. She helps with the daily tasks in running the kennels and helps us keep organized. We are thrilled to have her join the training team, and look forward to seeing her skills as a trainer develop and grow.

Maryellen is a Member of NADOI #1105 as well as a CGC Evaluator for the AKC!

 Jason Pruitt - Trainer/Kennel Support

Jason has over 20 years’ experience working with and around dogs.
He provides essential back up and support to trainers and staff when needed. He is an integral part of our success

Beyond the education, experience and training, we offer you our pure enjoyment of training, which is paramount to the quality and amount of training and interest you and your dog will receive. We plan to continue to educate ourselves and keep on top of the newest and most effective methods in the areas of dog care, training and behavior. This will ensure that you are receiving the best care, information and training available.
